Caring for Your 3D-Printed Décor

A well-made 3D print is a durable object. Treated with the same courtesy as any piece of décor, it will look new for years. Here is everything worth knowing.
Dust with a soft, dry cloth or a soft brush — a clean makeup brush is perfect for detailed figurines, reaching into recesses without pressure. For grime, use a cloth barely dampened with water and mild soap, then dry immediately. Never soak a printed piece, and never use acetone, alcohol, or abrasive cleaners: they can cloud or soften the surface.
Keep pieces away from sustained heat and long hours of direct sun. PLA — the material of most décor prints — begins to soften around 60°C, which no living room reaches, but a windowsill in direct summer sun or a spot above a radiator can get closer than you would think. Bright indirect light is completely fine; ultraviolet will very slowly mute vivid colours over years, the same way it fades fabric.
Handle by the body, not the details. A printed object is strongest along its layers and slightly weaker across them, so a thin protruding detail — a wingtip, a stem — is the one place not to grip.
If something ever does break, do not throw the piece away. Clean snaps repair almost invisibly with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue (any hardware-store super glue). And if a piece you bought from us breaks in a way glue cannot fix, write to us — because every design is a file, not a mould, we can often reprint a replacement part alone.
